Duncker/020stadsdistributie achieves CO2 reduction of 15% through collaboration
Lean and Green Award Winner L.A.J. Duncker BV from Amsterdam shows that national cooperation with a regional distribution pays off. Together with partners and Vroegop Windig Netko, the company has made great strides in terms of CO2 reduction and sustainability. There are three principles that are the mainstay in this cooperation:
- Based on the location of the partners and the storage and transfer sites, the Netherlands is optimally divided into focus areas;
- Reciprocally, there are already many existing stops in each others core areas;
- By outsourcing these to each other, the home routes are condensed and less profitable stops are carried out by the partners at a lower cost.
In the first year alone the companies achieved a CO2 reduction of 15%.
As with the initiative in Venlo, Duncker is also strongly supporting a sustainable city distribution in Amsterdam, along with 020-city distribution that delivers bundled items to shops in the city centre using electric vehicles.
